28 March 2011: Congratulations to Pierce O'Reilly, a former student on the MSc in Economics, and his co-author David Post, on winning the Brussels Forum Young Writers Award 2010. The Brussels Forum is an annual high-level conference organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States and its partners. With participants from 50 countries, the event focuses on transatlantic relations and brings together heads of state from around the world, including senior officials from EU institutions and member states, U.S. officials, Congressional representatives, and academics. The Brussels Forum Young Writers Award was presented by the Belgian Foreign Minister Steven Vanackere to Pierce O’Reilly and David Post for their essay on the future of the transatlantic relationship, “New Institutions for a New World: The Transatlantic Alliance and the Future of the Global Economic Order.

1 March 2011: Congratulations to Dr. Stefan Storrie (Department of Philosophy) who won the Colin and Ailsa Turbayne International Berkeley Essay Prize Competition (Rochester, USA) for 2011 with his essay “Berkeley's apparent Cartesianism in De Motu”.

22 February 2011: Congratulations to Dr. Gail McElroy and Prof. Michael Marsh, who won an award for the best article published in 2010 in one of the top ranking US-political science journals, Political Research Quarterly (PRQ) for their article 'Candidate gender and voter choice: analysis from a multimember preferential voting system'.

11 June 2010: Congratulations to Dr. Eleanor Denny (Department of Economics) and Dr. Jacqueline Hayden (Department of Political Science), both of whom received the Provost's Teaching Award for the 2009/10 academic year. Photos from the award ceremony can be seen here.
